Taipei 101 Taiwan
A 101-floor skyscraper, Taipei 101 is located in Taipei, Taiwan. It was designed by C.Y. Lee and Partners and constructed by KTRT joint Venture. Taipei 101 is at present the tallest building in the world.
Taipei 101 was felicitated with Emporis Skyscraper Award in 2000. Apart from 101 floors, the building has five underground floors.
The construction of Taipei 101 reached completion on July 1, 2003.
Taipei 101: Inside it
The makers of Taipei 101 cannot stop raving about the most advanced technologies applied to construct it. Taipei 101 has vein-like fiber-optic running through the entire building. This enables transmission of satellite internet at the speed of 1 gigabit per second.
Taipei 101 boasts of two fastest doubledecker elevators, which run at a speed of 37.5 mph. The elevators were manufactured by Toshiba. Taipei 101 has an outdoor observatory on the 89th floor.
In order to shield it against natural calamities like earthquake, typhoons and wind, there is a 660-metric-ton tuned mass damper on the 88th floor
Taipei 101 has six floors of retail mall, which comprises shops, restaurants and night clubs. The interiors of Taipei 101 have been designed strictly in accordance to feng shui.
